Vibration analysis is a well-known monitoring and maintenance process found across distinct engineering fields, including within container ships themselves; ConexBird was inspired, in part, by NASA's use of the technique to verify the soundness of the command modules for the Apollo lunar program.
Technology
Concept
ConexBird has developed vibration-analysis hardware designed for mounting on container spreaders, and able to withstand the harsh conditions spreaders are subjected to.
In addition, ConexBird has created a suite of software to gather, process and distribute the data produced, including a custom-built machine learning algorithm specifically tuned for container analysis.

HOW IT WORKS
ConexBird delivers game-changing container insight through the following automated process:
Device on the crane
ConexBird hardware collects data from containers handled by the spreader.
No time spilled
Data is collected during the lift.
During the lift
Once the lift begins, actuator-generated vibrations travel throughout the container.
Measurement
Sensors record the vibrations which return from the container's structure.
Cloud transfer
Measurements are processed by a machine-learning algorithm trained on real containers.
Insight available
Results are delivered to the end user in real-time.
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
ConexBird's hardware can be retrofitted to existing spreader models, and looks like this:
